As a client of Direct Psychology, you are entitled to:
Be treated with dignity, equality, and compassion in a professional, courteous, and caring manner that respects your individuality, without discrimination or stigma, and acknowledges differences related to race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, religion, personal values, age, disability, and economic status.
Have your privacy and confidentiality safeguarded to the fullest extent allowed by law.
Receive care in a safe environment that addresses all aspects of your health, including both physical and mental health.
Be provided with an evidenced based, yet person-centred, approach to care that is accessible, safe, and based on best practices for achieving optimal outcomes.
Receive goal-oriented, timely treatment, care, and support tailored to your needs, and be supported in participating in decision-making.
Have access to clear, understandable information about mental health conditions, available services, and treatment options, enabling you to make informed choices regarding your healthcare.
Consent to or refuse treatment, as well as decline participation in educational or research programs.
Decide who can attend consultations, such as a parent, carer, advocate, interpreter, Translating and Interpreting Service, or student.
Receive care that is sensitive to your individual circumstances, including those related to your culture, gender, sexuality, age, family, disability, lifestyle, and spiritual beliefs.
Be supported by a service that recognizes the factors influencing your physical and mental health and understands your responsibilities regarding children and dependants.
Have efforts made to contact you if session times need to be changed.
Receive undivided attention from your clinician, without interruptions, during your session.
Get accurate, relevant information promptly.
End therapy at any time or request a transfer to an alternative service that may be more appropriate to your needs. Your clinician will facilitate this to the best of their ability.
Be involved in decisions regarding your care, in line with a mutually agreed-upon action plan.
Make a complaint about the service or treatment received, and expect that it will be investigated appropriately and confidentially. You will not be disadvantaged in receiving ongoing service as a result of making a complaint.
Request a copy of your records in accordance with the Privacy Act and the Freedom of Information Act.
Provide feedback regarding your care, service, or program.
As a client of this service, you are responsible for:
Treating others with respect, including workers, volunteers, and fellow clients.
Showing respect for our property.
Attending the service in a fit state, free from the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Actively participating in the service to maximise your benefits.
Maintaining confidentiality regarding information about other clients or participants in groups or programs conducted by our service.
Providing accurate information about yourself to receive the best care.
